Becconsall u3a is a local membership group, one of over 1000 groups across the UK with a combined membership of over 400,000 affiliated to the u3a National Charity in London. The Third Age Trust (TAT) established in 1961, whose aim is the education and stimulation of retired and people no longer in full time employment, within the community – those in their “Third Age” of life. Each local membership is a self governing entity, operating within the national framework, providing life enhancing learning and social activities that brings communities together. You can enrol onto a growing range of activity/interest groups, run by member volunteers, held almost every day of the week at a very modest charge – the u3a is a not for profit charity.

So why delay? Explore what you are missing by browsing our website. Most u3a activities are held at the Hesketh Bank Community Centre, a modern, well resourced new build facility opened in 2021, a busy hub of community activities catering for all ages & interests. Residential location is not a condition of membership, which draws from a wide area from Preston to Southport and generally attracts members from early retirement with no upper age limit. Annual u3a membership at Becconsall is currently £15 per person plus nominal attendance charges for specific interest groups as a contribution to venue hire costs.
There are 14 interest/activity groups listed on our website with more likely to be added as membership grows and requests to start new activities are made. Don’t miss out, join us today and broaden your life experience and circle of friends.
