Dear Member,
Becconsallu3a Holiday Club
Members’ Group Travel Opportunity
Many u3a branches across the UK offer group holiday events, which foster friendships, offer collective confidence & most importantly deliver significant savings compared to travelling alone – so why not at Becconsall u3a?
In your Committee’s constant endeavour to provide new activities and deliver better membership value why not test this observation locally? Is there any or sufficient interest to consider introducing a holiday club locally? To test this proposition effectively we need to focus upon a real case scenario, so when Greatdays Tour Holidays of Altrincham (professional group tour operator, and sub-contractor to u3a National, and formerly Shearing Coaches) approached our Chairman, this was a great opportunity to test the idea, one way or the other
Over the Christmas period, a series of telephone exchanges between the Chairman & Great Days, u3a co-ordinator, Claire Buckley, resulted in creating a real-life 5 day fully costed holiday plan tour to Northumberland for 2026, bespoke to embrace visits to the most iconic local tourist attractions with ample rest time between events, accommodation hosted by the Holiday Inn at Seaton, 7 miles outside Newcastle, and accompanied throughout by our own coach & driver.
The itinerary, dates and prices of this specific 5 day, 4 hotel overnight excursion, are summarised overleaf for members to consider joining the party, but more importantly and without any obligation we would recommend that you join us at our next weekly Thursday coffee morning on 22nd January 2026 at the Hesketh Bank Community Centre, Station Road, commencing 10.00 am, when Claire Buckley will attend in person to present, illustrate and address any personal queries you may have. There is a limit of 45 places available to our membership of 160, so don’t miss out, you can reserve your place on the day.
Peter Ralphs,
Chairman,
Becconsallu3a
